HIGH SCHOOL SECTIONALS SET TO TIP TONIGHT

Tonight begins the start of tournament time throughout the state of Indiana. Three out of the four Putnam County Teams will see the court in the opening round of their respective sectionals this evening. In 3A sectional 28, homestanding 12-8 Greencastle will look to make it two wins in a season over 9-11 Brown County at the Macanally Center. The Eagles haven’t picked up a win since a 73-66 victory over Monrovia on February 16. Tip time in that matchup is slated for 7:30. In 2A sectional 44, county rivals 8-12 South Putnam and 3-17 Cloverdale will meet for the third time on the season at 6PM. Both teams will be looking for their first win in over two weeks. WOMEN’S TENNIS TIGERS SWEEP SUNDAY MATCHES

THE DEPAUW TIGER WOMEN’S TENNIS TEAM PICKED UP TWO WINS ON SUNDAY. IN THE MORNING, THE 16th RANKED TIGERS FIRST TOPPED NCAC FOE OBERLIN WITH A SCORE OF 8-1. DEPAUW WON FIVE OF SIX SINGLES MATCHES IN THAT MEETING, WINNING EACH IN STRAIGHT SETS. IN THE AFTERNOON, THE TIGERS KNOCKED OFFDIVISION-IIGRANDVALLEYSTATE 6-3. THE TIGERS WON FOUR OF SIX SINGLES MATCHES AGAINST THE LAKERS, PICKING UP WINS FROM MAGGIE MACPHAIL, MEGCROWLEY, CAROLINE EMHARDT, AND KATIE REGAN. THE TIGERS ARE BACK IN ACTION THIS FRIDAY WHEN THEY HOST THE ITA DIVISION III INDOOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP AT DEPAUW’S INDOOR TRACK ANDTENNISCENTER. #16 MEN’S TENNIS TIGERS SPLIT SUNDAY SERIES

THE DEPAUW TIGER MEN’S TENNIS TEAM SPLIT THEIR PAIR OF MATCHES ON SUNDAY. THE 16TH RANKED TIGERS OPENING THE MORNING AGAINST 17th CARNIGIE MELLON, WHERE THEY DROPPED A 7-2 DECISION. MICHAEL RARDON AND ERIC HUBBARD PICKED UP THE ONLY WINS FOR DEPAUW IN THE MATCH, AT 3 AND 5 SINGLES RESPECTIVELY. IN THE AFTERNOON, THE TIGERS DEFEATED DIVISION-2 OPPONENT GRAND VALLEY STATE WITH THE SAME SCORE OF 7-2. DEPAUW SWEPT THE DOUBLES COMPETITION AGAINST THE LAKERS, AS WELL AS PICKING UP FOUR OF THE SIX SINGLES MATCHES, INCLUDING WINS BY BEN KOPECKY, CHRIS BERTOLINI, HUBBARD, AND DAVID MOSS. WGRE to Broadcast NCAC Women’s Tournament


Greencastle, IN  – WGRE-FM announced today that the station will broadcast the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Women’s Basketball Championship this Friday and Saturday. The first semifinal tilt features Denison University and Kenyon College at 6:00 p.m. EDT on WGRE’s Ustream channel. The other semifinal will take place at 8:00 p.m. between DePauw University and Wittenberg University and will be broadcast on WGRE-FM.

Parker Schwartz and Caleb Lehman will call the first semifinal live from the Neal Fieldhouse on the campus of DePauw University. The game can be heard on WGRE’s Ustream channel at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/depauw-athletics.

Second-seeded Denison enters the game with a 19-7 overall and defeating Kenyon twice this season. Kenyon College also comes in the game with a 19-7 record and is the third-seed in the conference tournament.

WGRE’s coverage of DePauw Tiger athletics continues with the other NCAC semifinal as the top- seed DePauw Tigers will take on the fifth-seeded tigers from Wittenberg. Garth McMains and Caleb Lehman will have the call as DePauw looks to top Wittenberg for the third time this season. Wittenberg enters the contest with a 14-11 record while DePauw enters with a 24-1 record.

WGRE-FM will also have live coverage of the NCAC Final on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. EST.
