Today marks the start of Bell Week. It is a time on DePauw’s campus where the only think people seem to care about is the football game. And for good reason. This years game marks the 120th meeting between DePauw and Wabash, although the last four years have belonged to the Little Giants. The bell case in the Lilly Center remains empty, and has for too long. This year it will be no easier for the Tigers, as Wabash comes in sporting an 8-1 record. DePauw on the other hand, is 4-5. So it is a busy week for fans, students, and the players, but also for us here at the radio station.
This week we will conduct upwards of twenty interviews with coaches and players, as well as some DePauw staff members about the Monon Bell game. Our broadcast saturday supplements a live TV broadcast presented by AXS TV, but we all know that people like to listen on the radio while they watch the game. Our staff is working extra hard this week to put together an extensive pre-game show, and an award winning live broadcast starting at 10:30AM on Saturday. In addition to the play-by-play and color commentators in the booth, Saturday’s broadcast will feature two sideline reporters as well. We will be able to speak with alumni and coaches (hopefully), at different points throughout the game.
You never know how the game will end up. In 2007, DePauw won the game on a field goal as time expired. If you missed it, or just want to relive it, well here is the video:
